Riad Kamel, born in 1954- in the village of Al-Maghar, located in the Palestinian interior. He lives with his family in Nazareth. A Palestinian academic writer and critic, he has many critical works and literary and intellectual studies in the field of story, novel, theater and poetry. He holds a doctorate in the literature of the Syrian novelist Hanna Mina from Bar Ilan University and works as a lecturer at Ornim Academic College. He is a member of the Palestinian Writers Union in occupied Palestine in 1948 and is also a member of the Mahmoud Darwish Prize jury.

 

His literary and professional career

Riad Kamel has been a lecturer at Ornim Academic College since 1993 until today, and has served as director of the Sisters of Saint Joseph School in Nazareth for nearly a quarter of a century. He has many critical works and literary studies in the field of story, novel, theater and poetry, and his production is published in refereed literary magazines, in newspapers and literary magazines, and on many websites. He participates in many literary, cultural and intellectual seminars in the country and abroad. He received the literary sabbatical award from the Ministry of Culture in 2007. He has authored several books and publications, including the book “Studies in Palestinian Literature” (2017) and this year he launched his book “Reality and Imagination - Muhammad Ali Taha’s Literary World” published by Al Ahlia House for Publishing and Distribution in Amman.
