Bashir Musa Muhammad Nafeh is a Palestinian historian and politician, born on the 9th of October 1952 in Rafah (which was under the Egyptian administration at the time), and holds both Egyptian and Irish citizenships (acquired in 1994 due to the fact that his wife is an Irish citizen).
Bashir has taught Islamic history at the Islamic College and Birkbeck Institute at the University of London, and writes regularly for Middle East Eye and the London-based Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper. He is also a senior researcher at the Al Jazeera Center for Studies. Bashir has contributed to authoring several works in Arabic and English on the history of Arab nationalism, the Palestinian cause, contemporary Islamic movements, and the history of Islamic thought. He is currently residing in the United Kingdom.
