Salama Kaileh (July 4, 1955 - October 2, 2018) is a Palestinian writer and thinker. He is considered one of the most prominent Arab writers on Marxism, the left, nationalism, and Arab reality.

 

his life

Salameh was born in the city of Birzeit in 1955, and later was expelled by the Israeli occupation authorities, so he lived in Baghdad, and in 1979 he obtained a bachelor’s degree in political science from Baghdad University, then resided in Syria since 1981, then between Egypt, Jordan and France.

 

Salameh worked in the Palestinian resistance and then in the Arab left, and he was imprisoned for eight years in Syrian prisons from 1992 to 2000, when the Syrian authorities arrested him on charges of opposing the goals of the revolution, and he was arrested again in 2012, but this time he was deported outside Syria, Where he was deported to Jordan, and could not return to Palestine, because of his confessions in 1976, he is wanted by the Israeli authorities on charges of resistance work.

 

Salameh has written in many Arab newspapers and magazines such as The Lebanese Way, Al-Nahj, Arab Studies and Al-Wahda. He was also active and present on the Internet with his discussions and periodic articles on social media and prominent leftist websites.

 

He died on October 2, 2018 in the Jordanian capital, Amman, at the age of 63. His death came after a long struggle with leukemia.
