Saif al-Din Mahmoud Zaid al-Kilani (1914 - June 3, 1968) was a Palestinian-Jordanian writer, educator, and poet. He was born in the city of Al-Qunfudah in the Hijaz, and was educated in the schools of Nablus and Jaffa. Then he moved to Jerusalem and studied at the Arab College there, and from there he went to Australia, where he obtained a professorship in education. He worked as an educator, inspector and principal in the field of teaching. He participated in several international conferences, representing the government of Jordan in Syria, Egypt, Lebanon and Libya. Then he took over the Jordanian embassy in Morocco, and was appointed a professor at the University of Rabat. He died there and was buried in Amman. He received a number of Jordanian and Moroccan medals and has several books on education and educational administration and wrote some textbooks for teaching the Arabic language. He also has two collections of books titled “Khalat al-qlb” and “Longing for the Homeland”.

Saif Al-Din Mahmoud Zaid Al-Kilani was born in 1914 AD / 1332 AH in the city of Al-Qunfudah in the Hijaz, when his father was an employee there. He was educated in public schools in Nablus and Jaffa, then moved to Jerusalem and continued his studies at the Arab College, obtaining the teacher's exam certificate in 1937.
He was appointed as a teacher in Hebron High School, then as principal of Tiberias School, then resigned from education and worked as secretary of the Arab Nation Bank in Jerusalem, then as director of its branch in Nablus.
After the catastrophe of 1948, he was appointed as a teacher at Kirkuk High School in Iraq, then as a teacher at Ibn Rushd High School in Hama, Syria. Then he returned to Jordan, and was appointed as principal of Irbid High School, then as principal of Salt High School.
He was sent on a scientific mission at the expense of the International Education, Culture and Science Organization to Australia and obtained a diploma in 1954, then traveled to New Zealand, the United States, Britain, and then France during 1954-1956. He obtained a doctorate in education from Ain Shams University in Cairo, 1960.
Then he was appointed inspector in the Ministry of Education, and undersecretary of the Ministry of Construction and Development in 1962, then Minister of Construction and Development in 1965. He was appointed Ambassador to Jordan in Rabat, Morocco, in 1966, then a lecturer at King Mohammed V University in Rabat in 1967.
He died on June 3, 1968 / Rabi` al-Awwal 7, 1388 in Rabat. His body was transferred to Jordan and buried in the Greater Amman Cemetery.

Poetry
He wrote patriotic poems, and these poems were distinguished by “Arab enthusiasm, and a transparent and deep human kindness. He singled out Palestine, the first issue of the Arabs, in much of his poetry. He had more than one stolen homeland, as it is like the Arab depth, and the backbone of the Islamic nation. His poems were distinguished by the classic form, which He observed renewal in language and poetic composition, and his poems were known for their sobriety and strength of casting, and for the sincerity and warmth of emotion. Abdel Aziz Al-Babtain mentioned him in his dictionary and said, “The patriotic meaning prevailed in his poetry, and his spiritual tendency mixed with a human sense and Arab enthusiasm. In his poems, the features of the old and the modern meet, and the wording tends to be sober and novel.
