Hashem Abd al-Wahhab Abd al-Rahim Yaghi is a Palestinian academic, born in 1921 in the village of al-Masmiya al-Kabirah in Gaza.

 

scientific life

He received his education until he finished high school in Palestine, then moved to Egypt and studied Arabic literature at Cairo University, from which he obtained a BA (1951), a Master's degree (1956), and a PhD (1960).

 

practical life

He worked as a teacher at the Libyan University (1960/1961), and King Abdulaziz University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (1961/1962). Then he settled in as a teacher at the University of Jordan from its founding in 1962 until he reached the retirement age (2002), and during that time he held several positions, including: Head of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature (1969-1971), and Dean of Scientific Research and Graduate Studies (1978-1980). . He also worked as a visiting professor at Kuwait University (1975-1977).

 

He was a member of the founding body of the Jordanian Writers Association (1974), and chaired it for two terms (1982/1984). He was also a member of the Arab Jordanian Cultural Association.
