Born in Gaza on July 27, 1943, a well-known Palestinian academic and currently heads the Department of Education and Higher Education in the Palestine Liberation Organization and serves as the Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al-Quds Open University and founder of Al-Azhar University in Gaza.
