H.E. Dr. Michel Marto has been Chairman of the HBTF since April 2004 He began his banking career at the Bank of Jordan in 1979 as Deputy Manager and then as Managing Director. In 1989 he became Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan, a position he held for eight years. He serves as Chairman of the Jordan Securities Commission from 1997-98. He served as Finance Minister from 1998-2003. Dr Marto was an Economist with the World Bank in Washington DC, US from 1975-77 and also served as an Advisor to HRH Prince El ­Hassan Bin Talal. He holds a Master's Degree and a PhD in Economics from the Southern California University.
