Farid Abdullah Asaad Al-Jallad (Abu Abdullah; October 1, 1944 –), a Palestinian politician and jurist, was born in the Palestinian city of Tulkarm. From 2009 to 2014, he served as legal advisor to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

His upbringing and life
Farid Abdullah Asaad Al-Jallad was born in the city of Tulkarm in the West Bank on October 1, 1944. He received his primary, preparatory, and secondary education in the schools of his city, Tulkarm, and obtained a doctorate in law.

At the beginning of his life, he worked as a lawyer in Tulkarm, and he continued in this profession for decades.

Al-Jallad was elected in 1989 as Vice President of the Palestinian Bar Association, and in 1994 he was elected as its President.

He became the Palestinian Deputy Minister of Justice in 2003, and on May 14, 2003, Palestinian President Yasser Arafat appointed him a member of the Palestinian Supreme Judicial Council in addition to his duties as Deputy Minister of Justice, and he continued to do so until he was appointed Minister of Justice in the ninth Palestinian government on February 24, 2005, when he continued until the 27th. March 2006.

On October 15, 2009, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas appointed him as his legal advisor. On December 1, 2009, Al-Jallad became president of both the Palestinian Supreme Judicial Council and the Palestinian Supreme Court after being assigned by President Mahmoud Abbas, and he continued to serve there until he submitted his resignation at the end of May 2014.

On July 12, 2015, President Mahmoud Abbas assigned him to head the Supreme National Commission of Inquiry into the war crimes that Israel launched against the Gaza Strip, and on August 25, 2015, the Palestinian government assigned him to head the independent international national commission of inquiry related to the human rights obligations of the State of Palestine.
